Small business loans or grants, whether by the government or financial institutions have to be repaid back monthly, with loans having a higher interest rate than grants have attached to them. In most cases, governments do not give out loans but grants, leaving loans to be given out by financial institutions attached to it or independent from it. These institutions include banks and saving and credit organizations.

A lot of paperwork needs to be done and submitted to an underwriting of business and personal accounts that you may have when applying for small business loans or grants.

If you do not have a good credit score because of unfortunate circumstances that you could not foresee, then you may qualify in getting a grant. However, this depends on the type of business that you are in, and if your business fits the required conditions to get a grant. In certain cases businesses may be excused from paying off grants. Government grants may also be offered for the purpose of funding people who want to go that extra mile and do something worthwhile, but lack the finances to do so.

Grants are usually available to entrepreneurs, especially those owning small businesses. The social status of an individual does not matter when applying for a grant. Although it is not mandatory that free grants are made available to every person that applies, chances are that if you have a genuine proposal it will be approved and the grant given.

A disadvantage in grants is that they have more restrictions in the use of the money provided, unlike loans which you can freely spend as you wish.

There are other types of grants that could be used for personal needs like home renovations and payment of school fees, although this are handed to selected individuals who meet a certain conditions. The good thing about grants is that, unlike loans, poor credit will not affect your proposal.

Regardless which of the two you choose, you will still be getting what you want: and that is financial aid to answer your needs.
